Serving North Country residents as they transition through their sunsets.
What is an End-of-Life Doula?
“When time on this world becomes more paramount than ever but never enough, a kind, supportive voice could be everything.”
End-of-life doulas are non-medical professionals qualified to care for a terminally ill person's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs during the death process.
They also provide opportunities to complete and celebrate life while honoring the dying process.

As a nurse with 15+ years of experience, I approach my doula work through that background.
My experience in nursing showed me that we need to approach death with more compassion and empathy. As a doula, I’m able to serve my clients more holistically than I could as a nurse.
Having a deeper understanding of diagnoses and how the medical industry works first hand, I am a firm advocate for my clients and help them navigate the medical system. I’m also better able to serve as a liaison between medical professionals, families, and patients.
My perspective on death is that it’s a natural and important part of life, and I strive to help my clients and their families cope with this transition.

I’m Jocelyn Nute Curell:
Your guide and support through
end-of-life transitions.

It is my great pleasure to accompany you, and your support systems, on this journey.
Your dignity, safety and satisfaction is most important while on this route to the state of peace. The goal for this complementary approach is to see the lightness within the darkness of dying based on client-centered, end-of-life conversations and planning. A right of passage, death with dignity is possible.
I blend my background in healthcare with the complementary care offered by end-of-life doulas to be your “EOL Coordinator.”
As an EOL Coordinator, I strive to be your support through all aspects of the transition process from preparing for death by helping you draft advance care directives and make funeral arrangements to advocating for you and your wishes during the dying process and sitting vigil during your final transition.
My approach includes complementary care such as:
Music therapy
Aromatherapy (with essential oils of fresh flowers)
Massage with my homemade salves
Energy cleansing and clearing
Assisting in creating an altar
As well as simply providing a nutritious meal or snack.
When appropriate and desired, I include my two daughters, Sophia (age 7) and Marley (age 6), because children bring such joy and comfort.
Because the end of life isn’t the end - it’s a transition that brings grief but also possibilities. And I believe we should approach that transition with joyful grace.
Providing the present of peaceful presence.
